Local Artisans
The local artisans are at the core of what we do. Our homes are enriched by the beautiful pieces hand made by the talented people of Cartagena and its surroundings. From chairs made of local fibers, to hand-woven hammocks and colonial mirror frames, the majority of our interior design was crafted by locals who made a living during our projects, and who we return to year after year for new pieces.
The artisans we hire come from some of the most vulnerable areas in Cartagena, and thanks to this work they generally can support their whole family. We are committed to supporting their talent and their work by constantly adding their pieces to our hotels. This also ties in with the preservation of the local ecosystem as the artisans use local materials, without having to import anything and thus impact less the planet.
Our Staff
All of our onsite employees come from Cartagena communities, where their work can support families, help build homes, and create a better future. Many of our staff have been working at the hotels for nearly a decade, and throughout the years they have been able to pay for their home, buy a lot and build a house for their family, or create a small business in their neighbourhoods. We value the support they are creating in their communities and being a part of this is something we cherish.
